Dear Parents and Guardians,

It has been a devastating day for the small community of Uvalde, Texas where a gunman entered the Robb Elementary School. And while we can’t understand the depth of their grief, our hearts are with the families that suffered loss and a community that must now respond and endure.

Tragic events bring up a wide range of emotions for the entire school community. Our school counselors have sent information to support staff. Students that need additional support will be directed to their counselors or the administration. It’s so important that we listen and support each other as we process during difficult times and I know that students will receive the guidance they need here.

Safety is also something that we are committed to ensuring on campus. Our resource officer and the Dover Foxcroft police department are a visible presence in the school. We continue to lock the school doors and have cameras that are monitored by the office staff. The safety plan is reviewed each year. And we all continue to strategize to provide the safest precautions for students.

While we will probably never make sense of this senseless act, it is more important than ever to work together to help students engage in the school and community.

Sincerely,
Stacy Shorey
Superintendent of Schools
