Admission of Resident Students
Parents or guardians legally residing in the towns of Charleston, Dover-Foxcroft, Monson or Sebec may register their students in grades pre-K through grade 8 for school at SeDoMoCha.
“Residence” means bona fide residence – one’s actual residence maintained in good faith – and does not include temporary or superficial residence established for the purpose of free school attendance in RSU 68. It shall be considered the place where important family activity takes place – the place where the family eats, sleeps, relaxes, and plays. It is a place that can be called “home.” While it is possible for an individual to maintain property and pay taxes in more than one location or community, for purposes of student eligibility for school attendance, “residence” shall mean where the parent maintains a home.
Documents Needed to Register New Students
The following documents are required to register a student for attendance at SeDoMoCha:
- Birth Certificate
- Immunization Record
- Proof of Residence (example: light bill, tax bill, rental agreement)
- Proof of Custody*, if applies
*Proof of custody and/or guardianship shall be substantiated by a copy of a court order or probated will appointing the resident as guardian of the student.
A student may start school 24 hours after all of the above documents are received and all of the forms in the registration packet are complete.
Registration of Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Students
- To enter pre-kindergarten, a child must by four on or before October 15
- To enter kindergarten, a child must be five on or before October 15
If you or someone you know has a child who will be starting kindergarten or pre-kingergarten in the fall, contact the office to get information about upcoming screenings.
