RSU 68 is pleased to announce that we will be continuing to implement our After School Program for the 2024-2025 school year.   This program is funded through the 21st Century Grant from the Maine Department of Education.  Our start date at this time is September 16th.  The program will take place from 3:00-5:00 pm, Monday through Thursday.  Transportation is available to specific bus stops for students living outside Dover Foxcroft.

It is SeDoMoCha’s hope that by offering this program, we will further our students’ education. We wish to provide students with a safe and healthy environment after the school day for all students at no cost.  Our program will include activities based on student needs that are both academic and enriching in nature, as well as deliver targeted academic support to meet classroom standards.

Our program is currently able to facilitate up to twenty middle school students. Students who need additional academic support will be given priority access to the program. Due to the limited slots and the specific goals of our grant program, this year we will be opening our middle school program to an invite only system.  Our staff will select and invite students who do not meet the 50th percentile on our state assessments and are not meeting classroom standards throughout each trimester.  The program will use progress reports and report cards as guides to frequently reevaluate student success. This will allow us to graduate current students from the program and invite new students, who need support, to the program.

Students will have a tailored schedule to meet their specific needs. Every day will begin with snack time followed by wellness/recess. If weather permits, this time will be spent outside. From there, they will be split into groups for enrichment and targeted academic support. During student’s enrichment time, they will participate in pre-selected activities you have signed them up for. A few examples of enrichment activities could be health and wellness, fine arts, or STEM.

We will be sending out registration forms later next week to students we are inviting to the program.  We strongly encourage these families to complete and return the form to secure their spot.  Early intervention is critical to helping support students and providing multiple opportunities to succeed.  We see this program being a great resource for our students and community here at SeDoMoCha. We would like to thank you for your continued support with our 21st Century After School Program.
