The RSU 68 Board of Directors is committed to maintaining a workplace and learning environment that is free from illegal discrimination and harassment.
In accordance with applicable Federal and/or State laws and regulations, RSU 68 prohibits discrimination against and harassment of employees, candidates for employment, students and others with rights to admission or access to school programs, activities, or premises on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, religion, ancestry or national origin, or disability. Further, in compliance with Federal law, RSU 68 prohibits discrimination against school employees and candidates for employment on the basis of age, pregnancy, or genetic information.
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs and activities. Under Title IX, discrimination on the basis of sex can include pregnancy discrimination, sexual harassment or sexual violence. Title IX also requires that equal opportunity in athletics be provided.
Title IX also prohibits retaliation for raising a complaint under Title IX or for advocating for a right protected by Title IX.
Any employee who believes that they have been discriminated against or harassed or any student or other individual who believes that a student has been discriminated against or harassed are encouraged to discuss their concerns with the appropriate teacher, principal, counselor, supervisor or the Affirmative Action Officer/Title IX Coordinator.
